Navimow lawn mowers mow the lawn according to the schedule and return to the charging station when the battery is low. Once they are charged, they continue mowing from where they left off or according to the next schedule.
But if the mower is not charging, there could be an issue with the power, charging station, charging ports, etc. This article will help you understand the common reasons for the issue and figure out the root cause in your situation. We will also share some solutions to get rid of the problem without much hassle.
Reason for Navimow Not Charging
No Power to Charging Station
The most common reason for Navimow not charging is no power to the charging station. If somehow the power is disconnected, the mower will not charge.
There is a power indicator light on the charging station. If this indicator does not light up, it means the charging station is not receiving power. There can be multiple causes of this problem. The problem could be with the power outlet, circuit breaker, wires, switch, etc.
Wrong/Damaged Charging Cable
If the outlet is working fine, the second thing you need to check is the charging cable. Firstly, make sure you are using the same cable provided with the mower.
The extension cable you have used is connected to the charging station and the power supply adapter. It could be loose or not connected properly. Also, inspect for any damage in the charging cable. Often, pets and animals damage it while roaming in the lawn.
Blocked Charging Strips/Contacts
If there is an issue with the charging strips or contacts, you will see a blue light on the indicator. It means the charging station is receiving power, but it’s not transferring it. It's normal when the mower is away from the charging station and mowing. But if the mower is docked and you are still seeing the blue light, there is an issue.
You might have seen the charging strips and contacts on the charging station. If they are blocked, the mower won’t have a proper electrical contact to charge.
It usually happens because of accumulated dust or grime. Also, look for grass clippings and corrosion on the contacts and strips.
Incorrect Charging Station Placement
Sometimes, the mower does not charge because it’s unable to reach the charging station. And that happens when you place the charging station incorrectly.
Suppose you have placed the charging station on an inclined surface. Now, the mower won’t be able to stand over it. It requires a plain and even surface.
Similarly, the mower requires clearance on the left, right, and front side of the charging station. If there is any obstacle around it, it will deviate from there.
Unless the charging station is placed correctly, the mower won’t be able to stand over it and recharge.
Extreme Temperature
If the temperature is extreme, the mower might not be able to charge. Whether the temperature is too low or too high, in both cases, the mower’s ability to charge is affected.
Therefore, Navimow mowers have a built-in temperature protection that activates when the battery temperature is below 0°C (32°F) or above 53°C (127°F). In this case, you will see a charging protection icon in the Navimow app.
The mower will not start mowing in this condition. Its charging will resume only when the battery temperature returns to the safe range: 3°C (37°F) or higher, or 49°C (120°F) or lower.
Hardware Issue
There could be a hardware issue preventing the mower from charging. You won’t be able to know the exact problem in this case. Because the fault could be in the charging station, power adapter, mower’s battery, etc.
Thus, the only option is to reach out to Navimow support. The team will help you fix the issue.
How to Fix Navimow Not Charging
Check Power Outlet
Firstly, check the power outlet where you have connected the charging station. It might be faulty and not delivering power.
Turn the wall outlet off. Take out the charging station plug from it. Now, connect any other device or appliance to the same outlet to check if it is working or not.
To know if the charging station is functional or not, you can connect it to another wall outlet. If it is working there, it means there is an issue with the wall outlet.
You can also use an electrical tester pen or a multimeter to check the functioning of the wall outlet. If the outlet is not working, you can get it replaced by a licensed electrician.
But if the wall outlet is working, there could be an issue with the power cable or charging station.
Check Power Cable
If you have tried turning on the charging station from another power outlet but it’s still not turning on, there could be an issue with the charging cable.
Turn off the power from the wall outlet and check the connections of the cable. Then, turn on the power. See if the charging indicator is turned on.
If you are using an extension cable, remove the extension cable for some time. Connect the power supply to the charging station directly or use another extension. It will help you know if the cable is faulty.
Also, look for any visible damage on the cable. Check whether it’s frayed or completely intact. If there is any issue, you can get a replacement charging cable from Navimow.
Inspect/Clean Charging Components
If the charging station is turning on, but it is not charging the mower, you will see a blue light.
Inspect the charging components, such as the charging strips and charging port. Look for debris, grime, grass clippings, or any other blockage. There could also be corrosion on them.
If they are dirty or blocked, try cleaning them. Turn off the power supply first. Use a brush or cloth to clean everything. Do not use alcohol, gasoline, acetone, or any other liquid.
Once you do that, the charging station and the mower will have a better electrical contact. It will charge the mower, and the blue light will turn green.
Improve Charging Station Placement
In case the charging station is working fine, but the mower is unable to dock, you should improve the charging station placement.
The charging station should be on a flat and even surface. This way, the mower does not face any difficulty during charging or resting.
There should be no obstacles around the charging station. If there are any, the mower will detect them and reroute. Remove small objects, such as stones, twigs, toys, and other foreign items. Moreover, the mower also detects hanging branches as obstacles, so make sure there are none around.
The charging station needs clearance. The 1.6ft area on the left and right and the 6.5 ft area at the front of the charging station should be obstruction-free.
