Congratulations on getting a Navimow robot lawn mower! It is an investment for lawn care that will make lawn mowing automated and save you a lot of time and money. But before that, you have to set up your mower.

The best part is that Navimow robot lawn mowers are easy to install and set up. There is no need to bury wires or spend hours on the installation. It’s pretty quick and straightforward.

To help you set up your Navimow mower for the first time, we will take you through the step-by-step process of installation. We will take the Navimow H2 series as an example, but the process is quite similar for all mowers.

1) Set Up the Charging Station

The first thing you need to do is set up the charging station. It’s actually needed because a new mower usually has a low battery. It is completely normal because of long-term storage. However, you must fully recharge the mower before the first use.

Select a Suitable Location

Select a suitable location for the charging station. For proper operation and smooth docking, the area in front of the charging base should be clear for at least 6.5ft. Secondly, it should have a minimum of 1.6ft of unobstructed space on both the left and right sides.

You also need to connect the charging station to a wall outlet. It’s better to select a location where you can easily run the extension cord and connect the charging station without any hassle.

Select a flat, non-hardened ground for a charging station. It shouldn’t be on a slope. Keep it away from sprinkler heads, fountains, generators, water pump stations, air conditioners, etc.

Fix the Charging Station

Once you have selected a suitable location, place the charging station on the ground. Secure it with the given nails. Tighten them with a hex key or Allen wrench.

Connect the power supply cable to the power supply adapter and charging station. Secure the cable with the given pegs, and make sure it is not placed in the mowing zones or anywhere the mower may pass. Finally, plug it into a wall socket.

Charge the Mower

Push the mower into the charging station and let it fully charge. There is a light on the charging station. When the charging is in progress, it is pulsating green, and when it’s fully charged, it turns to solid green.

2) Install the App and Connect it to the Mower

Install the Navimow application on your smartphone. You can scan the QR code on a large card included in the box. Open the Navimow application and create your account.

Connect the Mower

Before you connect the mower to the app, turn on Bluetooth and location services on your smartphone. Give the app permission to detect nearby devices.

You will see the mower in the nearby devices on the app. Tap it and press the OK button on the mower. It will connect the mower to the app.

Complete the Activation Process

At this stage, the app will ask you to enter a PIN code. It is used when the mower is locked because of a Lifted Alarm or a Geo-fence Alert. You need to enter the PIN code to stop the alarm.

Enable Navimow Connect+. You will see it on the app. Tap Enable Now. Then, you will be directed to connect to your Wi-Fi. Enter the password and tap Connect.

Finally, select the language and tap Activate. Your mower has now been activated, and it’s ready to be used.

You will have a quick guide on the app. You can go through it or skip it, as we have already covered some points till now and more will be covered later in this article.

3) Select Auto or Manual Mapping

Now, it’s time for mapping. You have two options: Manual and Auto Mapping. You can go with any of the options, but they offer better results in specific scenarios.

Auto Mapping

Most Navimow models, including the H2 series, allow Auto Mapping. It’s a great option, and the mower does everything on its own. But it’s ideal for lawns that have defined and flat edges.

For instance, the lawn area is separated with a clear boundary and has flat, predefined edges; the mower will map the area accurately. But if the area is unclear or has uneven lawn edges, the mower will miss some parts in the Auto Mowing method. For such cases, Manual Mapping is the best option.

Mapping methods

If you want to go with Auto Mowing, you can select that and let the mower map the lawn. Just follow the recommended preparations and tips for better results.

Manual Mapping

Manual Mapping is also a simple and user-friendly method. You need to move the mower like an RC car around the edges to map the area. It’s simple and quick. Let’s see how you can do it.

Select Manual Mowing and tap Next. It will show a few tips and guidelines for better results. You can check them out by tapping Next. Then, it will show a preparation list, such as Bluetooth connectivity and battery percentage level. You need to ensure everything is perfect and tap Next.

Mapping preparations

Calibrate: Hit the Calibrate button. The mower will come off the charging station and move a bit to calibrate on its own. Now, you are ready to map. Tap Start Mapping.

Move to the Starting Point: You will see the forward, reverse, left, and right buttons on the screen. Take your mower to the position from where you want to start mapping and tap “Reached starting point.”

Map the Area: Now, move the mower along the edge and map the whole area. Try to be close to the edge as much as possible. When you are very near the starting point, tap Done.

Manual mapping

Set Off-limit Island: You can save the map at this stage, but if there is any non-mowing zone in the area, such as a flower bed, you can also select it. Tap Add More > Off-limit Island. Reach the start point for mapping and start to map the area. Once you are done with that, save the map.

The app will ask you to generate the shortest channel to the charging station automatically. You can tap “Yes” for automatic mapping or “No” for doing it yourself. Save the Map.

4) Start Mowing

The mower has mapped the area, and it’s ready to mow. You can also schedule mowing and set the mowing height, and various other things in the settings.

Tap Mow, and the mower will start mowing the lawn. It will automatically create an optimized route for the map and navigate the lawn. If there is any obstacle, it will detect it instantly and reroute in no time.

You can leave the mower, and it will get the job done. You can check the progress through the app and even stop or pause whenever you want.

If you are comfortable with using a smartphone application, you won’t face any issues in setting up your Navimow for the first time. You have to set the mower once, and it will free you from lawn mowing and keep your lawn perfectly manicured.
